Tinto (Moderator) says on Jan 2, 2008, 05:40: Well, to pick three famous names: Paul Newman aged well, I think Richard Gere is getting up there (but he's got weird eyes) and Robert Redford is handsome even though he's spent way too much time in the sun. Anyway, 57 and 29 in the US? He's got some money or power or both OR she's a needy nut case looking for a father figure. ColombianoGringo (Moderator) says on Jan 2, 2008, 10:25: Honestly, I stopped dating young Latinas in the US because most of them are so fucking ghetto. The ones in Miami seem to be less so, but here in Houston and in NYC, they drive me crazy with that spanglish crap and that reaggattonera bullshit. You take the worst of latin barrio and black rapper culture, throw in a lack of education and you have young Latin "culture" in the US. I'm fat , ugly not much to look at but I still landed a very good looking 10 years younger than me Girl from Medellin. I met her here in the states at a time when I was broke as hell and was living in a dump of an apartment. I'm glad I never listen to you guys way of thinking. And no she did not need me for papers. manINred says on Jan 2, 2008, 12:34: anyway, base people on themselves, not on nationality, I agree with gringoinbogota to a large extent. Of the 10s of thousands of Colombians in New York, not all will think that way, statistically it is impossible. What are they, racist? No, we won't date any gringos or white men! Impossible. Imagine if I thoguht that way about latinas, on principle. How the hell would I come across? RACIST AND BIGOTTED! And unless you are implying that all Colombianas are like that, even the desperate ones, I will have to see it to believe it. Even if it is true, I will find the statistical outliers and prove you all wrong!! :)

Robert Jorge says on Jan 2, 2008, 18:10: John S. We live in Miramar Beach, FL. It is in the panhandle, and the general area is referred to as 'Destin'. Lots of rich folks, and lots of military. From March to August - tourists. But, VERY boring compared to Villavo. Here, you can't just decide at 11pm to go to 7 de Agosto and party 'till 4am. I figured and planned on that being an issue. I warned her that this area was beautiful, clean, whatever - and very quiet before she moved here. I told her there was no Aguapanelas, Kuarzo, Los Capachos, etc. I told her you can't just walk out the front door, chit chat with 3 neighbors on your way to walk a 1/2 block for a broaster chicken and a 10 mil Moviestar card. So I totally appreciate how and why she is homesick. Hell, I am, and that aint' my home.

Robert Jorge says on Jan 2, 2008, 18:18: Elmo, Chinese chicks in New York dig white guys? That is the only non-white group in this area that DOESN'T like white guys, generally speaking. I am not talking Asian: like Thai, Philipina, Japanese, Korean, Cambodian, whatever. But actual Chinese, from the country China, do NOT associate socially with anybody but their own race here. Obviously there are rare exceptions. Now girls from southeast Asia ... dime a dozen here. Of course we have about 100,000 GIs within a 90 mile radius. Seems like 1 out of 3 airforce guys who get deployed to S.E.Asia bring back a 90 lb Buddhist.

manINred says on Jan 2, 2008, 19:32: Rocinante, I am talking about Colombians with heritage and background from Colombia, whether they immigrated to the developed world or were born in the developed world. For now, you are right, I am unable to win any Colombianas over in New York (considering the fact that I don't live there) so I will take your word for it.

0 funny, 0 helpful. |
|
Robert Jorge says on Jan 2, 2008, 22:48: Yep, it's the "Redneck Riviera". That term now pretty much applies to Panama City Beach, 35 miles east from here. We get hillbillys here too. But they are people like CEOs from Atlanta and Birmingham. We have a lot of sports stars and other celebs who live here in south Walton Co. and Destin. Sheryl Crow, Britney Spears has a place, Tim McGraw and Faith Hill, and probably 3 dozen sports guys. I don't know their names. Oh ya, and that guy from M.A.S.H. who does that financial show on CNN. Mick Foley "Mankind" from the WWE. Tom Cruise and Michael Jordan used to have homes here ... don't think they do now though. That dude that got busted by the Feds, Berny Evers (sp?) - the former CEO of Worldcom lived here until he got 40 years in the pen.

podborski says on Jan 3, 2008, 09:34: I had just finally decided my next trip was going to be cali, now I gotta go to Iceland?
0 funny, 0 helpful. |
|
Robert Jorge says on Jan 3, 2008, 18:09: Iceland is not 11 hours from New York City. From JFK, it is probably 4 or 5 hours. Put it this way: It takes 8 or 9 hours to get to Frankfurt, Germany from New York. Iceland is more or less half way there. It is a common layover stop for flights between Chicago, New York, and Detroit to other major European cities. Iceland is an easy flight. Just enough time for a movie and about 4 beers.

|
Robert Jorge says on Jan 3, 2008, 18:14: If you look at a globe of the world, measure the distance (with a string) from a point in the US to a point in Europe, going straight "like the crow flies". Then, from the same point, make a north eastern arc to Iceland and then a south eastern arc down to the European point. The second string will be about a third shorter. So, flights from the US to Europe generally go over New Foundland, Nova Scotia, then southern Greenland, miss Iceland barely, and come back down over the islands north of Great Britain and Ireland.
