I know that when traveling with my daughter and also with my nephew we had to have notarized letters and have even had to swear affidavits to bring them out of the country to places including Mexico, Bahamas, USA, Cuba.

I also found that out - if only one of the parents is traveling (not both), they take precautions against child abductions, so you need to check whether you need any special papers. If both parents are traveling, I don't think it's a problem.
