hey girl! I'm also moving down to Colombia around January to teach English...not sure if I'll end up in Bogota, more likely Medellin or Bucaramanga. Where did you do your TEFL? I see you've been to the country before, what made you decide on Bogota instead of other cities?

Hey raquel, I decided to take the ISSO tefl course in Bogota, then stay there for a few months or more. I'll start it in either January or Feb, as soon as I scrape together enough money haha. It's pretty cool because I'll have a place to stay in Bogota for free for the first few weeks, which'll be a load off my mind while I take in such a new and crazy place. what about you? when were you in Colombia, or are you there now?

raquel....you're cutting out a large slice of work for yourself. you'll face a lot of difficulty and hardship on this voyage. keep your wits about you and your faith in your inner guidance.

i apologize for some on the thread who have insulted you and ridiculed your work. pls note that those who speak in such a manner have no works to show for their work. pity.

if i can be of any assistance in your moral support, feel free to e me at dwmte7 at yahoo.com

i find peace and contentment in alignment with honorable causes.

Hola raquel...personally I am not religious and I have my concerns about those who wish to convert people or save lost souls. It rubs me the wrong way that this has to be a part of your volunteer work (I do not mind that religion guides you to do the work, or that your beliefs motivate you to do such work, but - again - the idea that conversion is a central theme of your mission is somewhat disappointing). Having said that, this is just my personal opinion.

I highly suggest that you read "Pedagogy of the Oppressed" by Paulo Freire. You may disagree with parts, as many traditional Christians do; however, I am certain that the book will serve you well if you choose to do volunteer work. Remember, charity is often another form of oppression. Be aware of what you are doing and why you are doing it.

hola raquel.
what type of futbol is that you get so excited about?
just curious.
I can't recount much if soccer is or might be by now, so big in Cincinnati.
By the way, how are things in Cincinnati these days?
I have a business associate there, but it's difficult to get through to him.

nothin I say is to be takn for my words, but rather for the words of Sailor Jerry.
