Hi Tony!! Really the very best thing to do when you get here is just walk the neighborhood....Rosales is very nice....very safe...when a apartment is for rent or sale here they post a telephone number in the window of the apartment...he got a nice deal with his landlord by pating 6 months rent in advance...that way he did not have to come up with the extra documents required - especially if you are not Colombian.....he is single and like the Rosales area a lot, very good restaurants and bars....and and a central location to everything...FYI....this area is anywhere from about Calle 69 to about Calle 81 towards the mountain (so if you are going North on Carrera 7 on your right side)....there is a great restaurant area here called Zona G....many great places....but if you like Peruvian, try Mi Peru on Calle 59 and about 17....you will like it here I think, just always be a little careful...finally...if you are not that keen on living in Bogota....there is a city a little North where my wife and I live -- Chia....it is VERY nice....you can take a bus each day into Bogota from here.....driving here sucks, so I try to avoid it...taking the bus into the city during the week is not an issue for me...but even if you do not live in Chia, take a bus on a sunny day weekend day and have a beer or coffee at the square...it is really great...good luck -- if you have more questions feel free to ask....always willing to try and help.
