shoe sizes

Hi everyone,
I am traveling to Peru in a few days and I want to buy a pair of sneakers for a friend, but I don't know how to convert the shoe sizes from Peru to US. Does anyone? He says he is a 41 but what is that in US sizes?

and then try them on. i bought a pair of shoes in Bogota once and didn't notice till I got back that one was slightly larger. Luckily I was able to take them back to correct before I left.
