I've read most of Vargas Llosa's production, but not the latest. The last one I read was La fiesta del chivo. I'm in the middle of a Vargas llosa novel right now, about the lives and work of Flora Tristán and her grandson, Paul Gauguin.

He's one of the top latin American novelists, living, together with García Márquez and Isabel Allende.

I don't know much about Isabel Allende. I once heard her on a Radio 4 interview and thought her a bit precious and gushing. But I think I'll go onto Amazon now and give her stuff a look.
