I am looking to do something similar but I am a bit further back in my plans. I am interested to share any tricks or traps you/ I find out about. Good luck.

It's not about the destination, its about the journey

Hola Paul,

Paul,
In recognition of your full support and eventual single-handed defence of our position on the Euros v Gringos thread, it gives me great pleasure to have you as a friend.
Take care mate, and if you ever have the misfortune to visit Cali look me up.

Hi Paul,
Why was the post deleted? Or is it just moved? I missed what happened. It wasn´t down to me was it?
Sorry to hear about the robberies. Wherabouts in Cali were you?
We´re actually just outside of Cali near Jamundi. Very nice. Although I was robbed at gunpoint in Cali about 3 years ago having just been to the bank. Touch wood nothing so far though.
I took early retirement last year and my wife and me moved out here permanently. Not working at present as we´re doing up our house etc. Hope I don´t have to, but who knows? I´m not workshy anyway.
How about you? You´re a long way from Manchester.
Don´t know Dave from the hotel.

Paul,
Thanks for the message. Been here since last September but bought our house about 3 years ago. Wife´s from Cali. Been doing it up bit by bit and now nearly finished. I think we bought at a good time when prices were really rock bottom here.
Still have a flat in London which is rented out, so it´s paying for itself at the moment. Bad news about the UK market though. Don´t know whether to cut and run while we´ve still got equity, or just sit it out.
A web designer? Cool. When I start my business here you can design the website for me. At least I know I won´t get ripped off. Probably won´t be for another year or so though.
Spent 26 years working in or for the military - so the pension helps!
Seriously, what did happen to the deleted thread? Any reasons given etc? I hope it wasn´t anything that we said as we were just baiting our dear, loveable colonial cousins. I´d hate to think someone actually took it seriously and were offended. Mind you, that hotbed of buggery bit wiped the smile off my face for a while, until I realised how fucking funny it actually was.
Nice to speak with you to. Keep in touch. Ian

Paul,
That website is what this country needs. It´s really very good. Hope it all takes off for you.
We´re contemplating buying a shop unit in a mall in Cali and either renting it out for income or running it ourselves. Don´t know what to sell though. It´s the old Mars and Venus thing. Wife wants to sell jewellery, clothes or pretty little bright things, and I want to sell sports stuff, elctrical items or big dark dirty things. I think I´ll just leave it all to her.
Now you mention it, I have a sudden pining for Chicken Tikka Masala, Bombay Aloo, Pilau Rice, 2 Poppadoms and a Peshwari nan, mint sauce and an ice cold pint of Stella. (sigh) If you end up making yourself one, please blow the smell southwards for me.
Great Balti Houses in Manky!
I´ve got mates in Oldham and Royton, and family in Rochdale so have managed a few good nights out in Manchester - mostly followed by crap hangovers and a slight twinge of guilt. What is it about Manchester that always leads me astray?
Anyway, stop sipping twee and get back to work. You´ve a business to run!
Cheers mate, Ian

ps: Hope United do better in the next round.

Hi Paul,

Have only just learnt how to add friends so I decided to try it out on you and Britabroad (the neurones are disappearing fast!).

You are both automatic choices as we Brits must stick together....but I am not sure about being friends. Could you both send me some reassuring info like bank account details, photos of your wives/companions, a reference from your local MP/bobby....you know the type of thing. Then perhaps we can progress to the next stage.

Nothing to worry about from me....my wife will vouch I am really nice.

I am interested in studying at UPB, but I can't figure out how to sign up!? I e-mailed all the addresses on their website and no one has ever gotten back to me. What is the best way to go about signing up for their ESPEX program?
