what a priviledge...the first to welcome you aboard. try not to be put off by some of the posts on pbh by it's family members. the majority know colombia pretty well and they mix being sardonic with some sparce optomism about colombia's future.

but all who have set up shop and have chosen to live here, have done so because of the reality of colombia, not because of some of the harsh realities she contends with.

thanks again for your service and our collective prayers that you and all service personal return safely to their homes and families.

Thanks guys this really means a lot to me and it has gotten me even more pumped up for my trip =D. What would you like to know babygirl? For the most part it's really hot (147F/63.8C last week) and a thick layer of dust covers absolutely everything. Your average Iraqi is pretty friendly if they don't think they'll be killed for talking to you and they just want to go about their lives like everybody else without getting blown up or shot in the face. The country has been steadily improving and ever since the handover to Iraqi security forces on June 30th we haven't had any major incidents in my AO (area of operation).

Thank you for your service to our country dude. Coder and Marine? That's a pretty cool combo. I'm an IT architect who's always been curious how I could combine my skills with military service.
