Well you see the thing is that prostitution is a) considered of an exploitative nature for women of low resources, not to mention degrading b) illegal in international laws (especially sex tourism) c) looked down upon in general. Most of the people here are travelers, expatriates, foreigners (in the colombian point of view) married to colombians and even colombians. There are also women here who find such a thing not only deplorable but an insult. Colombians on the general are a tight knit community and see it as a threat. Which in cases it is a threat to the structure of the local life. Not saying there isn't prostitution over there but in many cases it just leads to pain, destruction of homes, and disease. Colombians are about the family and having someone from outside the country fly in and create a business that exploits the needy with the excuse of "needing to eat" is downright absurd and vile. I have many family members who are dirt poor living in stick houses without anything to eat but they would not pimp. Plus it is a predominantly Christian nation (catholicism just means universal). Would you want your mother to do such a thing?
