Santa Clara , Calironia, west of San Jose, has a nice mall , as the expressway winds alomg the mountain side, we stopped and were amazed how nice is was. As each parking lot on a different level of the mall alond the moutian, and this was a big mall, first impression was this is mall with Sears, it looked like we were pulling into a country club or hotel. Santa Barbara in Bogota is nice , But El Tesoro nicer.

Ok, it looks like I will have to create a demographic to make this a valid discusion. As you PBH keep bringing in extranous examples trying to prove your point. EXCLUDE: very poor, very rich, people with severe physical handicaps, and people who supposedly have no family and friends. I cannot believe the one PBH, who tries to disprove my post by saying Colombia better becasue the person in the US has no family that cares, and I would rather be in Colombia becasue they can surround them with loving family!!! That arguement is not relavent to the origianl post, you will have to assume , in both cases the person does not have family/freinds issues. THEN prove your point. Well I canot argue wuth some of the extreme examples you PBH come up with, but its getting late now, tommorow I will come up with a demographic that will more closely fit 80% profile, THEN a valid debate can be had.. AND WHO THE FXXX REALLY NEEDS A MAID ANYWAY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (I cannot belive some of you PBHers, but thats OK)

One of my references, is an aactual couple that lived in Colombia for 3 years, they are glad to move back to the US, they moved to North Carolina. they quote " we are quite happy, life is much better (easier) here" They lived in Bogota, then a couple years in the Medellin region, but not in Medellin city.

US far better, a nice house or even a rtrailer in North or South Carolina, mountains, fishing golf, quite a bit of freedom. The freedom of choice is amazing. Also look at the large scale communities in the US, where over 65 crowd has a blast. Yes a suppse dirt poor old in the US, could translate into a better life in Colombia, if the over 65 peson only makes $800-1000 USD a month. Look at all the old guys in Colombia , hang out all day by the street corner, they appear content. But compare to tha active life of a 65-70 year old in Florida, hit the beach, lots of planned actitives, freedom to travel, etc....

Days Inn, around 22st or 22nd ave ,can't remember if it is st or ave, hotel has beach, $80-90 purchased though internet, just have to walk 20-25 min, south down to the action.

I think this maybe an issue at airports that have extra Immigration Officers, with free time on their hands, or thay have to make a quota finding violations. Lets say you have a staff of 47 Officers, and the whole month they only found 3 violations, looks like they are not doing their job, thus special crackdowns. Avianca seems to "take care of their own" Probably have an "unwriten agreement" with Miami airport agents!!! Orlando , well no clout there.

"Hide" means you cannot see them from the boarding area, only after you have your ticket swiped by the machine, then round the corner and head down the walkwa ramp. If everyone sitting or standing in line to board could see the the visa or passport was being checked, then a person violatng could jsut decide to be a no show and get out of line, and go another flight or other day. Yes, it could be costly to change ticket, at least a minof $100, but a lot less costly then losing your visa priviledge for life.

No, the US visa passport will be confiscated, or a big hole is punched thought middle if then returned. Yes, the people are detained, they are not allowed to board, as there has been an immigration offense. They are allowed to board the next available flight on the airline that had been booked, the airline absorbs any tickets cost if there even is any.

Well now it looks like the US does it too now, but maybe depending on the staff, airport, who knows. All I know is waht I have seen in the Orlando airport, as boarding a JetBlue flight. I also boarded a JetBlue and therwas Immigration oficials hiding in the runway. There certainly is no formal requirement to have your papers checked by immigration as you leave the US. Maybe hotdog immgration agents , with lots of freetime , do random checks in Orlando airport.

To answer the one question, before the Colobian could easily get back tp Colombia with an over extended VISA (tourist, student, special, etc...), then re-file in Colombia for a new one, it just looks expired , not denied. NOW , if caught, it will be entered into the US database immgration system to deny permantly this person from ever filing for a new US visa. Thats why they hide on the ramp, the Colombian knows the consequences. The immgration officials cannot check every flight , but spot check certain flights.

The point being they let them go back, but not after intergation, interview, visa then banned. They want to stop thse people from ever coming back again into the US. BTW the airline does not check all the specific details of a Colombian's USA visa.passport, when boarding a return flight to Colombia. As I know a Colombia who worked in Boston for over 5 years, but came over on a vacation Visa for a short trip to Orlando Walt Disney World.

The Colombian people , along with many other 3rd countries , should wake every morning and kiss the ground Bernake and Paulson walk on, their policies created boom in 3rd world, devalued the dollar, put the US as a chump. just printing money, (and not getting it from taxes), will not solve the issues. Otherwise every Govt would do it, look at Argentina a few years ago.

I see the oposite, I am astouded at the growth I see in Bogota, Barranquilla, Cali, and especially Medellin. The money just keeps flowing in, new businesses, new construction, new cars everywhere, etc....... I cannot explain it, but I see it.

Hopefully they will have better sucess, then when I meet them in Barranquilla a few year ago. They hung out upscale Prado hotel in Barranquilla , and at the pool , one of the bands members was complaining Barranquilla chicas were blowing him off, he was getting no action. They hung out in Barranquilla, then flew in to Bogota to do the show, then flew out. I guess appox 5-6 years ago they thought Bogota was dangerous. Maybe they will have better luck with the chicas in Bogota, Barranquilla chicas don't dig that stuff. Strangely, I even ran one of the group on the beach in Florida , while watching a volleyball game, he was getting lots of action in Florida, kind of braging about it. And the other member had a wife, but she let him play around with no problem.

If every thing you say were true and sound, then at least the Seller should make an entire re-do of the Youtube video. Don't think it would help though, old bldg, high floor unit, in the hot Barranquilla relentless sun and heat. Spend $147k USD ???????? I rememeber being in a top floor unit of newer high end BAQ hotel, the A/C could not be shut off for a minute, without the room getting as hot as can be.

Size is only one criteria. But now that you mentioned it, in this particular case size is actually a detriment, with maintence in what appears to be an old structure. Excess space, also the additional cost to run A/C. Some places in BAQ , the A/C runs 24/7.

"a lower US$ means more US exports which is a great thing for the US econ... .." I am quite famaliar with that theory arguement, but our labor force wages are so much higher, we cannot compete on any labor intensive products. Did we grow 1970-2000 as an exporter of products???, we may have, if so then you are correct Thank you.

Are those unemployment fiqueres accurate???, seems like jobs are everywhere in Medellin and Bogota. I have never seen the newspapers (EL Tiempo) and internet, so full of so many jobs in Bogota and Medellin. Why the disconnect from the 15% quoted rate???

How many pesos a night? 140,000 is too high, that equates to about $75 USD a night. Looking at the website, I would assume 70,000 - 80,000 could easily be had, by a Colombian.

I just looked at Casa Relax, looks very nice. Buts it 140,000 pesos a night, $70 USD. Location good. I do not hang around hotels during the day , or use pools, etcc. Only a quiets room to sleep and take a shower. I would like no more then 80,000 a night, prefer 60,000 a night.

What is the name of that large indoor/outdoor restarant, . loks like a finca type ranch, that ahs putt putt golf course, also had I think go cart rides. O thinkn there are two one in the south or north. Any new nice malls in Cali? Is the main blvd connecting the North and the south fianlly done construction?

I know Iread the article in SOHO, also has photos of the girl, a brunette, nice but not quite supermodel quality. The Medellin college gorl prepego was a different magazine, a popular Colombia magazine but do no tknow the name. But the bottom line is, if you do not know any Colombians or gringos who actually experienced prepago, then it could be all hype. I recall , seeing in a club, a pudgy Colombian man and friend, with 6 hot babes, he owned a finca, I found out as I spoke to him briefly, because he wanted an extra chair for his group. He invited to his finca , a party the coming weekend, with all the girls, he kept using the term "party girls", which I was not sure if menant party girls or prepago. Anyway I was too new to Colombia, to grasp , to take advantage of the unique situation.
