elkfarmer says on Apr 6, 2009, 07:34: I'll give you a heads up on the pet travel.. I took a cat to Colombia for nine months and then back to the US. You have to get a vet to examine the dog, get an international health certificate filled out, and all new vaccinations. Then you just have to go to an office at the airport, to have them checked out and do paper work. Never travel on a week-end or holiday, as they may not be open. Then you will be stuck there I think there is a 7 day travel window, if I remember correctly. If it is a small dog, it can ride in the cabin with you. Some allow soft carriers and some do not. Certain sizes, to allow to be put under seat in front of you. If not, then it goes in baggage area. Sometimes airlines only allow two pets on a plane at a time. It is generally around $80-$100 for the pet fee, per flight. More in the summer months. some airlines do not allow pets. Avianca had stopped dong it, but I was still able to get my pet on. and I noticed there were others also. Start checking early.
