My sister came here in about 78 she was married to a Colombian for about 30 years then my brother came in about 83/4 my mother has been a few times last time she came was about 2 years ago when she was 83 years old but she has no fear & loves the place /food/people music/ etc too.
I finally came in Jan 91 after hearing about these beautiful women & Lambrettas in excellent condition I too fell under the spell & was married/together with a Colombian for 18 years so well into the culture.
Our Colombian friends in England used to say I was the unnoficial ambassador for Colombia in England because I loved all the culture etc.
The only thing I don't like here is selfish Taxi /bus & 4&4 drivers but not Willy's drivers they are caballeros, just the arrogant pricks in the likes of Toyota ego's or is that egoista, they just think the road is theirs & everybody else move or I'll knock you out of the way .
I speak from expereince being knocked of the Lambretta by a taxi in Pereira (no accident) intentional bu the Fiscalia was a bitch shouting at me & my wife who refused to go to the office & talk with her ,she seemed to have a chip on her shoulder with foreigners she was all for the Taxi driver who lied through his teeth & never even asked me how I was also I was never asked my side of the story by Transit or Gallinasos as I call them wait on corners like Vultures (waste of space just take money from poor motorcyclists etc why not pick on the HP Taxistas who have different laws to everyone else.
So that's my little rant over thanks for your comments

Reggae, ska in your interests list... I am also a fan. Early, authentic Ska is the best. Nice!

Incredible. There is so much of it too from that era, but I am sure I am not telling you anything new. Man, Trojan Records. Studio One. Classics. I got into Ska after/during punk in the late 80's and learned to appreciate the rythms and politics. I was fortunate to see the Skatallites in Chicago around that time, then later Frank "Toots" Hibbert, Justin Hinds and the Dominoes.... puros classicos.
You have those classic labels on vinyl? In colombia? Where are you? i will bring couple titles down ... Delroy Wilson.... Upsetters.... Lon Cheney....

Paz hermano!
