vacation info...safety info.

hi,
me and 2 friends (all women) are planning a trip in feb 2010...to guayaquil and then to
puetro lopez ,olon montianita and maybe salinas...is it safe for us and any info on what to do
and stay would be nice....this is the route de sol....so if u have other places we should go,
please tell us....any info is appericiated!!!!

Guayaquil can be iffy, so just be aware and don't roam the city with valuables. Puerto Lopez offers many decent hostals along the Malecon and just north of town. Olon doesn't have much in the way of lodging, however, it's only about 5 minutes north of Montanita which is chocked full of hostals, hotels and hosterias and hippies of all ages. Personally, I very much like MantaRayaLodge.com just before Puerto Lopez. There are also beachside cabins in Ayampe at around $8 per night. There's a website: http://www.rutadelsol.com.ec that has just about all the info you could need.

I've traveled this area as a single woman alone and never found it to be unsafe.
