I´ve been over in Ecuador for 2 months (thus have 4wks remaining on my tourist visa) and wish to extend my trip here for another 3 months until the end of January. From reading information regarding changes to visas here that occurred at the end of last year, I am still a little unsure if I can extend my visa another 3 months by spending a day or 2 in Colombia and reentering, at the Migracion office or not at all. Has anyone got recent (within last few months preferably) information on this?
I´m also looking into starting a course at one of the universities in Quito and thus will need a student visa. I read on another site that currently (with the changes) that student visas MUST be obtained in your home country (a little difficult for me to do a day trip back to Australia). Can someone confirm or deny this?
Thanks in advance.
Sean.
