luck...........the fact that your thread is posted in the twilight zone, the hotel california of pbh, should give you a hint. things just ain't what they used to be. when this all started 8 or 9 years ago, pbh was like el colombiano..............well, now, it's more like the IFC (international fight club) with no holds barred.............who needs referrees? just beat the fuck outta each other and get on to the next match; kinda like the gladiators in the collosseum. pity

even though my business--on melrose at the corner of melrose place, orlando and melrose, one block from la cienega.--was a cash cow, location, location, location; had dr.s lawyers, actors, singers, top line pimps and more. made lots of money, had the only place that customers could drive in the property and we could shut the gates. party at leisure, had the largest parking in the whole of beverly hills and west hollywood, when they would film on melrose place, i got $7,000.00 a day for the parking. all their dressing trucks and elec generators and staff cars. it was the best. then, along comes the "fifteen minute bankrupsy". FUCK! atter the christmas following the riots, i decided to throw in the towel and leave. didn't want to rebuild, and sit out the fear that had been instilled in the public, no body wanted to go out or shopping and i had a ten grand a month nut to pay for that corner. we just moved up in the valley and opened a country store. the beginning of a long drqwn out end. and the curtains ain't closed yet. i'm still married to that colombian gal and have we gone through HELL.

emerson............amen to that. that was the nightmare from hell. and the cops....who got let off the hook...went into hiding and ther rest of the county went to hell. fires everywhere, go in a bar/club/restaurant, everyone was packing heat or had a shotgun...not quite the city of angels. after it was all over the police changed the motto on the cars from "to protect and to serve" to "we'll make you king for a day"

larry, colombia has had an export problem for near twenty years now. the funds are siphoned off from the off shore banks and little if any of it ever makes it back to colombia. there were long drawn out stories about this running for years. the only proceeds the nationals enjoy are for national sales. wonder who has the "keys" to these swiss, hong kong, new york and grand caymen accounts???

quantum, vinod is right.................like you, that's when i did my time and there wasn't much fan fare to the returnees. but that doesn't change one iota, the fact that we served. what about the band of brother who are serving or served in iraq? tha "false" war. are their deaths and injuries and less because the 'masters of war' did a fake one or a false one? not in my eyes. we served because in our hearts we did it for our country....for myself, i wasn't thinking about my country doing me. i was in early, 61 to 63 whan it was mostly a special forces souree' in laos and cambodia.

since you're from colombia, ma, you know well you need some thick skin to live and let live there. the casual jokes between friends--amongst paisas--would be enough to pull guns here in the states. here on pbh, let it run off,.....get a rain slicker and don't sweat the small stuff. some as others above have mentioned, seem to revel in getting under another's skin. why? ask them. seems petty but it's how some live. another, i saw in another thread took a side swipe at another mans ex wife. that's very dangerous turf.....especially in colombia, because families get involved and if someone wants to reach out and touch someone in colombia, that someone gets touched. (i casually council said person against such comments...they're not geared to good health) but if someone is pushing the envelope and at the same time pushing someone's buttons, you can either 'blink' or ignore. take your pick. for myself, i've found that most of the folks in the fishbowl have been my best friends...you figure.

fish.........i grew up around animal slaughter....veal notwithstanding. it's horrific. check this, on our third grade outting at grade school, where did they take us little tikes? to the slaughter house. where we watched the whole gory issue in living color. most of us, however, were hands on familiar with the program as it was part of our lives. today, the principal and the school board would be doin five to life for such an outting.
