ddluzdelsol comments on Catholic Marrying Atheist Sorry, but Thomas Jefferson was an Atheist, and Lincoln was not a christian. "The Bible is not my Book and Christianity is not my religion. I could never give assent to the long complicated statements of Christian dogma." [Abraham Lincoln] "Christianity is the most perverted system that ever shone on man." [Thomas Jefferson, in _Toward the Mystery] http://www.mega.nu/atheist_quotes_1.html Even a founding father, Benjamin Franklin also believed Christianity was full of BS..."Franklin was not an Atheist; he did not deny the existence of a God; he believed in a God; but his God was the humane conception of Deism and not the God of Christianity." http://www.infidels.org/library/historical/john_remsburg/six_historic_americans/chapter_4.html

ddluzdelsol comments on Odd Things About Folk in Colombia/Medellin Che... how can you say that? Where I'm from, people don't have house keys... you can walk down the street and not be afraid of being mugged... you can leave your car keys in your car and not be afraid of it being stolen.... people say Hi to each other even if you don't know them... people stop to help each other if you are in need.... people don't have bars on their doors and windows... neighbors know who you are and look out for you and your property.... but this is where I'm from... small town, USA!! Every country has it's problems... but why concentrate on the negatives of a country? I could say all kinds of scary crap that I experienced in Colombia... but I haven't posted that... instead I posted how pretty the country is and it's people.

ddluzdelsol comments on Times Square evacuated ! It does suck... I'm supposed to be there right now.... my return ticket was for January 4! But, I didn't goto Colombia to be stuck inside houses, though. I tried to tell them that I've traveled before. I'm not naive to dangers. But they would just say that I don't understand the dangers of Colombia... In Ibague, I stepped outside the house by myself to go across the street to buy a cig and 7up, and the entire family came to the doors and windows. The mother almost scolded me! I'm a bit pissed and mostly sad! I was thinking of going by myself to visit the coast again, but then just decided to go back and visit my mom, dad, and sis for the holidays! Tasco... born and raised in small town Ohio (24 years)... now I live in Las Vegas. I do take my keys out of my car in Vegas, but keep it unlocked. I used to have a CJ7 jeep with no top or doors, left the keys in it during work, and never was stolen! I don't purposely leave my house door unlocked in Vegas, but when you're drunk enough, you forget!!! hahaha! And I ALWAYS walk home when drunk at 2 or 3 in the morning in Vegas... but it's only about a mile and a half from bar to house.

ddluzdelsol comments on Times Square evacuated ! tasco.... BULLSHIT!!! The family I was with last week in Ibague would not let me walk anywhere.... even in the malls... without the father and my guy on either side. The mother even walked 3 steps behind me!! They told me daily how dangerous it was in Colombia! When we were in Bogota, my guy told me to wear my hat and sunglasses, and not speak a word! Only whisper in his ear if i needed something! Same thing when we were traveling on La Linea with the family! I was so scared, I left Colombia early!! After I told them I was leaving, they changed their opinion somewhat. At least here in the US, I can walk my streets without fear!! I've never had a house key, I don't have bars on my doors and windows, and I leave my car keys in my car parked outside! I can walk home drunk at 2 in the morning and not be afraid of being robbed!

ddluzdelsol comments on Times Square evacuated ! http://www.nydailynews.com/ny_local/2009/12/30/2009-12-30_police_investigate_suspicious_white_van_parked_in_times_square.html A parked van that sparked a scare and evacuations in Times Square on Wednesday afternoon turned out to contain nothing but clothing. Two hours after patrol cops spotted the 1992 white Dodge van, streets were reopened and Nasdaq and Conde Nast workers were allowed to return. The episode sowed confusion and worry at the Crossroads of the World, where a million people will gather on New Year's Eve for the ball drop. NYPD officers spotted the van on Broadway south of West 42nd St. just past 11 a.m. and noticed its windows were covered with a tarp. The van's vehicle identification number was obscured from view, and a phony police placard was on the dashboard. The Bomb Squad, Emergency Services Unit and Counterterrorism Bureau went to the scene, and an NYPD robot equipped with a camera was used to look for explosive devices. At least two buildings - 1460 Broadway, which houses the stock market, and 7 Times Square, where the publishing company is headquartered - were evacuated. And subway personnel were told to bypass the Times Square station. The precautions were rolled back after cops opened the van and found clothing and a temporary registration. They are trying to find the owner. The NYPD typically steps up its presence in Times Square in the days leading up the New Year's Eve, when a million people are expected to pack the streets to watch the ball drop. Preventing car bombs are a large part of that preparation, Browne said, with police sweeping area garages to look for suspicious vehicles. Officers also used detectors that pinpoint the location of radioactive materials.

ddluzdelsol comments on INCREASED SECURITY CONTROL FOR COLOMBIANS TRAVELING TO THE US About an hour. I was searched 4 times at El Dorado (I flew continental, and they searched me twice... within 50 feet of each search)... and twice in Houston. In Houston, I even passed the metal detector, and they still frisked me! BTW... When they say arrive at least 3 hours before flight time, they're not lying!

ddluzdelsol comments on Learner... you are not going to change her mind on this as much as she's not going to change your mind about your beliefs. For example... I am an atheist, and when a mormon missionary asks me about this, I just tell them, "you are not going to be able to change me into a christian as much as I'm not going to be able to change you into an atheist."

ddluzdelsol comments on Looking for hotel recommendations I stayed at the Fontibon Hotel in Bogota last week... about 10 minutes from the airport. Hot water, secure, nice rooms, internet, friendly staff. But it's 94.000 COP for a single, and 134.000 COP for 2. Sorry, I have no idea if it's close to the embassy or not. http://hotelfontibon.com/home.htm CALLE 17 # 97-10, Bogotá

ddluzdelsol comments on SHAKIRA - English or Spanish? She does do good bringing the spotlight onto some important issues to hand. Good humanitarian. But with her music, it's just proof that sex sells... she dances like a little girl who has no idea how to dance.... and ask any professional singer, her voice cracks constantly, and her vibrato wobbles. But, daaaaaaamn, what a body and face! ;-) She not the first to prove this theory, nor the last!

ddluzdelsol comments on INCREASED SECURITY CONTROL FOR COLOMBIANS TRAVELING TO THE US This happened to me when I returned to the US on Sunday... Nobody was allowed to move during the last hour of the flight, all electronics turned off, chairs in upright position, trays up, bathrooms closed, nothing on your laps including jackets and blankets. I was also searched 6 different times before I hit immigration in Houston.

ddluzdelsol comments on Most dangerous roads because of bus accidents? I'm here in Ibague!!! The bus trip was not bad at all!!! Actually quite beautiful!!!! went under the devil's nose... beside some river... (anybody know the name of that river?). I did get to experince the "passing a truck in a no pass zone with a hairpin turn coming up"!! hahahaha!! 6 hours with a few quick stops. Mostly while we were in Bogota. The only bad thing is that I severly twisted my ankle trying to get on the bus!!! STUPID ME!!! Now, Camilo won't let me do anything but stay in bed while he comes to my every need!! ...............Well, I guess it's not that bad!! hahahah!! But, my ankle swelling more and more each hour and turning black and blue... GOD, I hope it is not broken!!!!

ddluzdelsol comments on Miss Meta and other things make-up, hair extensions, taping everything in place, and stylists do wonders for a person!!!!!!! http://www.estilodiario.com/2009/09/07/stars-without-make-up/ Ever seen Jenny McCarthy, Kate Winslet, Angelina Jolie, Carry Underwood, Jessica Alba, Pennelope Cruz, or Hally Berry with out make-up, hair down, and street clothes on? They look pretty normal (even kinda on the not so pretty side)... but with guys wanting to "hit" only the physically beautiful ones, it's no wonder our little girls have body and self-image issues at the age of 10!!!!!

ddluzdelsol comments on Friends & Allies So.... they don't want our troops and support, just the money??? Even though the actually money being sent in is lower, the money the US gov't puts into the bases, troops, training, etc. in Colombia should make up for it... ????
