Congo still for travelers?

I traveled for 3 months in Congo in the 90s, it was great. But since then all the wars have been going on, are people still going? Anyone going beyond just Kinshasha.

I was in North and South Kivu in 2005, and it's no joke. I met people who made it through the country from West to East on their own but it took them many weeks and more than a few years off their lives. I'd love to go back though, count me in! =)
