50 km north of Bogotá, Zipaquirá has a huge mountain full of salt right next to it. A unique salt cathedral has been carved out in the mountain.
Population: 70,000 Elevation: 2650 meters. Average temperature: 15 degrees Celcius. | Editing history.
The best way to get to Zipaquira is by Transmilenio from Bogota. Take any Transmilenio bus marked Portal Norte or ask for directions on getting to Portal Norte. Once there, look for the place where the buses for Zipaquira leave and hop on one of the buses marked Zipaquira. The ride costs about $2 and a guy comes and collects the money once you are seated. It takes about 45 minutes to get there.
Once there, the easiest way to go to the salt cathedral is to take a taxi for about $1.5 or you can always ask for directions to walk.

My wife and I took our 9 year old grandson and we all had a wonderful day out. You can book an english speaking guide at no extra cost. http://poorbuthappy.com/yourthing/post/uploading-photos-for-dummies/ 0 funny, 0 helpful. |
