Gorgona is an island located about 50km off the Colombian Pacific coast. It is best known for the yearly visit of humpback whales and is really a diving paradise. It used to be a prison until 1985 but now is a National Park.

This is not a hostel but a boat. I traveled to Gorgona in this boat, it departures from Buenaventura, the trip takes about 12 hours, you can sleep all this time until you arrive early in the mourning to Gorgona.
The boat is equipped with tanks, 2 sodiac boats, and all the necessary gear to dive. It has small shared cabins with air conditioned. All the meals are included, also any snacks.
My trip was arranged by Arrecifes del Pacifico (http://www.arrecifesdelpacifico.com/) which is the dive school where I got my training and is located in Cali.
Diving and whale watching are some of the most common activities in Gorgona. You can see manta rays, white tip sharks, moray eels, octopuses and if you're really lucky whale sharks.
You can get to Gorgona by boat from Buenaventura. Also small boats departure from Guapi.
