Many live in College Point as this is where many of my ex-colombian wife's family and friends lived ..This is next to Jackson Heights.....If you are not familiar with these areas then La Guardia airport should work as a point of reference as Jackson Heights is just South of the airport and College Point is West of the airport ..

I live close to Jackson Heights and sometimes when there is nothing on the agenda I'll take a walk through Jackson Heights to just do some girl watching. Though there are still alot of Colombians there there seems to be more and more middle easterns coming to the area both living there and opening up stores and restaurants. Slowly I fear the area is losing its colombian flavor where it was and probably still is ground zero for colombianas in New York. I didn't know about College Point though. Fullboat any Coffee shops or Colombian bars there??

Not for nothing, but I noticed a decline in Colombians living in NYC within the last ten years. While there may still be quite a few Colombians scattered throughout Queens, many places like Corona, that were once populated by Colombians and Italians have been overtaken by Dominicans.

I have lived in Queens, NYC my whole life and can tell you that you won't find any major Colombian enclaves left. Yes, you will find Colombians on Norther Blvd in the upper 70's and lower 80s; yes, you will find them on Roosevelt Ave in the 70's and 80's... the problem is, you will find just as many Dominicans, Mexicans, Peruvians, etc.

Most Colombians have moved out of the area, much like most Indian's have moved away from Little India on 74th St. Yes the shops are still there and you will find Indian's patronizing the stores, but they do not call that area home the same way most Colombian's do not call Jackson Heights home anymore.

You can certainly find Dominican enclaves (Corona and Washington Heights), Puerto Rican enclaves (many parts of the Bronx, Spanish Harlem) -- but Colombian's in Queens have mostly assimilated into the background.
