Anyone know a decent bottle of wine I could bring to a party? I don't know much about wine or wine in Colombia. I would like to keep it under 30mil if possible.

BillBigD says on Mar 6, 2009, 14:05: Vina Santa Ema Reserve Cabernet is a nice table wine! About $5-$6 in Chile and $7-$8 in Costco in the states. I thought I saw in Cali so it should be in your price range. I like it better than the one listed above. Montes is a nice brand that has some bottles in your range also. Malbecs are also very nice.

Desideria (Moderator) (Trustee board) says on Mar 6, 2009, 14:27: Well, Casillero del diablo comes in different grape combinations, personally I'm a cabernet person, but merlot casillero is certainly a nice, albeit lightweight variety. A fronte praecipitium a tergo lupi 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

bogotaboy says on Mar 9, 2009, 09:22: Ummm wine is a fast growing phenomenum in Colombia as they try and push the middle classes away from aguardiente & aguila. The market grew some 25% last year so you would have thought that would make it a good place to buy but for me most of the wines are fairly over priced and there is nothing that good for under 20,000. I now only buy with my carrefour club de vin card (available online) which gives you Carrefour discounts every Friday - sometimes up to 30% off. In Carrefour you can get some decent French wines for around 25,000 if that's your tip alternatively Chile & Argentina are always fairly safe bets. Say a Chileno Valdivieso for around 30,000 or a Joffre from Mendoza for around 35,000. Pomona also does discounts on booze on Fridays so you could try there too but make sure you chose bottles on promotion.

pablo says on Apr 4, 2009, 07:39: I signed up for the Carrefour Wine Club which had to be done online. It took over a month to finally receive my plastic discount card. It isn't just Fridays that they have discounts. There is one going on today with a cool 40% off some good selected wines. They send out weekly emails with various wine sales going on. My only complaint is that the various wines on sale are not for every store even though they might have that wine in stock. ʇı dןǝɥ ʇou ןןıʍ sıɥʇ ǝʞıן ɹǝʇndɯoɔ ɹnoʎ ƃuıpןoɥ 0 funny, 0 helpful. |
