Travel in Colombia Passport or only Student Visa

This will be my first vacation in Colombia since I obtained my student visa. Can I just travel with my cedula? or do I have to bring my passport along also. What do the airlines require? Hoping to just travel with the cedula. Thanks

No boarding the carrier unless you have a valid passport. My wife is a Colombian national and we live in Colombia she is always asked for her passport by the airline and DAS. You will also need the cédula. I doubt you will need a US ID but if you do your student ID will suffice.

Passport required for international flights.

Within Colombia, your cedula de extranjeria is fine (for me at least). I have a new style plastic cedula -- I don't know if there are or will be restrictions on the very old fashioned cedulas.

Based on you apparent age it is likely your cédula is one that does not have to be renewed. Pedro, I believe she is a Colombian national so she would have a cédula de ciudadanía. The "old" ones expire 12/31/2009 at midnight. The present one with the hologram is still valid and did not need to be renewed.

From your post, I understand you´re already in Colombia, and are going to take some internal flights. My experience with my gf is that she has been able to fly all over Colombia with only her Cédula de Extranjería. She´s been ok with Aires and Avianca, and with security staff at the airport.

Yes, cedula extranjeria is enough, only when you fly outside Colombia, you will need your PP.
