Tourist Visa Sponsor is Retired in USA?? need help pls..

My friend has applied for a tourist visa and has all the appropriate paperwork and has interview scheduled in 2 weeks... Her sponsor has sent the letter of invitation and letter to consul explaining her expenses will be covered... However, the sponsor is retired and has not worked or submitted taxes last 3 years, BUT has plenty of money to cover the expenses with NO problem... Is there a way for retired people to fill out the I-134 form and is this an OK method of sponsorship for Tourist Visa... any help would be appreciated!! I tried to research on VisaJourney and Google but with no luck on specifics.... Thanks in advance to all.....

Not needed, the applicant must stand alone and sell the idea that she is NO risk of not returning to Colombia.

"...her expenses will be covered." Probably not since this indicates she does not have sufficient resources to make the trip alone, especially if she is a young single female. WShen she complets the visa application #28 asks who is paying for the trip. She should bring to th einterview documents related to her employment, such as letter from your employer stating how long she have been employed and her monthly salary, documents related to her personal financial situation and documents related to her family ties to Colombia.

Gator, believe the office will also investigate the sponsor too no? Back in 2003 (Major law changes since then), when I was married to my ex, her sister in London (Was a resident) desired to arrive to the states to further her her college education. She had previously received a 2 or 4 year degree from a major university so can see the link there. Her sponsoring college had a reputation for foreign students and also completed a letter on her behave. I also had to submit documents as I too would have been a sponsor. I was making $110K/yr and had a substantial amount in a separate account to cover her within the guidelines required by the INS. In short, she was denied and a letter sent to me stating I did not meet the necessary guidelines, unreal.
Believe this particular sponsor may too get looked at.....with today's new laws and his lack of filing the required yearly tax returns may reflect negatively. As you stated also for requirements, but more favorable is he sending money to add into her back account (If trusted) and a R/T plane ticket.

In the case of a STUDENT visa (is that what you are speaking about) yes. A tourist visa no (what the OP was speaking about)-she must stand alone and sell her case to the consular officer.
