The psychology of pbh friends

As a pbh-er, are you the type who asks people to be your friend, or are you the type who waits till someone asks you, and always accepts? Do you realize that any 2 of the latter will never be friends?

Both...

But, define friend....
Many kinds of friends, no?

johann: How is Iowa? Getting cold? I described two types of pbh-er, so it is correct and not ambiguous to refer to the second one as the latter. I tend to write very clearly. To a fault, perhaps. Ever been to Vedic City?

tabla, so i understand you correctly, "any two of the latter" would that be: 1) one who waits to be asked? and 2) one who always accepts? interesting dichotomy.

No dw maybe I need to clarify:

The two types proposed are:

1) the type who asks people to be their friend
2) the type who waits till someone asks them, and then always accepts

My proposition is that any two of Type (2) will never become pbh friends because neither of them will ever make the first move.

My original post seems clear to me, but I hope this helps.

The phrasing is what's off. You propose type 2 as a homogeneous entity, thus there couldn't be any distinct two of that type in the taxonomy you created. It's like saying there are two types of automobiles, (1) cars; and (2) trucks, many of which have bigger windshields than cars. But with those choices it's like saying "any two" trucks are different than cars, despite the fact that for the purposes of the comparison all trucks were proposed as homogeneous yet there exists a difference (e.g. the ones w/ bigger windshields which isn't true of all trucks, just as those PBH'ers who wait for friend requests might not always accept).

My pompous grammatical BS aside, I've friended people and have been friended. ;) (I hope you realize I was jus' playin' w/ the preceding paragraph).

Haha jimbo. Let's be friends! What I failed to explain (because I thought it would be obvious) is that these 2 types were not intended to be the only 2 possible types, but simply I am using these two (assuming they are common) for the purpose of the post.

I am possibly the most logical person you will meet, but I probably do assume that my readers are too. Mistake. Plus of course I can make a mistake, like anyone. It's logical.

In my time here in Colombia I have learned not to use the term "friend" casually.

All that up in the high life you can have it. False rich, false friends and well a false life. Get down to the bear bones of it and you will find yourself, your friends and your life. Colombia can show you the way if you look...

jaja tabla. I think I'm like you: I try so hard to avoid confusion that I probably create it. Then again, I was just bustin' your chops and knew perfectly what you meant. ;)

Then again, you never answered the question you posed: Que tipo eres?

My interpretation of the post is :
"As a PBH-er, are you the type who waits till someone asks you to be their friend rather than initiating friendships yourself? Do you realize that any two of this type of PBH-er will never be friends?"

My response is that I don't ask people to be friends here, and I'm not sure that I would accept a "friendship" request primarily because I'm still not sure what "friending" someone on PBH really means.

Well my first few times I waited to be asked, then I got the hang of it and asked a few myself. It took me a long time to see any point in having friends here, and I am still only a beginner. However, I can say that I am beginning to feel some warmth in my interactions on here, so I am hopeful that this will increase. I still relate to pbh as a whole more than to any individuals, who are only beginning to emerge as people to me. It certainly helps if people use their real photos. I hope I will be able to post my pic with my esposa after 12 Nov. No doubt everyone has a different view of the value of pbh friends and it would be interesting to hear different views or experiences.

No friends here. I ask for none and accept none. It's man against man and God against all here.

Bad idea. People will take these photos and use them in various ways against you. Don't say I didn't warn you.

I have lots of " friends" Lol, and actually I know just four of them IRL, I accept anyone really, except two but, they are not longer in PBH. I have asked one or two for the friendship but no one else. really I don't put too much attention to that.

I think it's time to introduce point two of this Psychology of PBH-Friendship Course.

If you are a Type I friender, and you have few friends, you need to brush up your chat-up line.

If your are a Type II friender, and you have a lot of friends, you must be very desirable

Then there is the third class. People like myself and Douglas who didn't discover the nuances of all those hidden pleasures and invites. Hell, I think I had some invites three years old I wasn't even aware of!!!

Bottom line for me is it is kinda like those chain e-mails...I never forward them.
