The Pablo Escobar theme park: Former home of Colombian drug lord is turned into bizarre tourist attraction

These are the pictures that show a theme park not to be sniffed at - it's the former home of Colombian drug lord Pablo Escobar.

From his eight-square-mile estate in the middle of the South American jungle, the mastermind ran a narcotics empire making him once the 10th richest man on the planet.

By 1989 Escobar sold 80 per cent of the world's cocaine, bombed governments and is believed to have killed nearly 4,000 people.

Yeah that's rather twisted. I couldn't figure that out. I even saw hats starting to surface around Medellin with his silloete and 'El Patron'. Isn't that rather sick? I mean the guys a mas murderer..?

(not really che.. just a name I picked as an Icon..before I had any idea who he was...so no smart comments).

I was there in august and wrote a trip report. It was one of the most interesting places I have ever been and everybody here should visit. When I was there with my amiga we were the only tourists on the entire estate until late when a family came up and took our pic together. About 4 hours out of mde and do not try to do it in one day as I did, its just too much for 1 day. Lots of small hotels near and a few big ones. KF

I wanted to make post of this earlier. This was in all the media on Wednesday here in US also. Did any of you see it? On Foxnews Steve Harrigan (short little guy who spent a lot of time in Afghan and Iraq) was reporting from downtown Bogota. Cool.

They said 50,000 tourists per year go there.

I thought the rival Cartel de Cali bombed it all and destroyed the classic car collection he also had a few of my favourites Lambrettas one of which is on display ,incidently he started his life of crime by stealing a Lambretta with his friend back in 1968 I have a friend in Pereira who has Lambrettas too & he has a magazine cutting about this.

I told you they secretly admirre him. I even heard a taxi driver saying to another Colombian friend "if he used his power benevolently, he would have made a good president"

I had to explain the power wasn't Escobar, it was the Cocaina.

Your right on both counts. Both Pablo Escobar and Che Guevera were mass murderers.

Pablo remains an icon to many today. I have visited that location and its a must see. I agree he was a massmurderer but i personally know many people have who have homes still today because of him and for that any other reasons they still to this day have a frame with his picture right next to that of jesus, the virgin and a plethora of saints.
