The cheapest way to ship stuff (including furniture, …) from New York to Colombia

I’ve been using this service which sends stuff (including furniture, …) from New York to Medellin for 1.1$/pound. It works like this:

  • You pay 1.1$/pound, plus about 10$/box in taxes and obligatory insurance.
  • The maximum weight is 110 pounds.
  • You drop of boxes in the shop in New Jersey, and they are delivered to a home address (by truck) in Medellin (or other cities closeby). There’s no extra charge for the delivery.
  • Shipments are sent by air and take about two weeks (often about 10 days).
  • If your box is very, very large and doesn’t weigh much (a large mattress), they’ll charge you per size instead of per weight.
  • The extra costs per box mean that it’s cheaper to send 1 larger box than many smaller boxes.
  • You can send as many boxes as you want, but each box needs to be less than 110 pounds.
  • You don’t pay any extra taxes, except if you send electronics (anything with an electric plug), then you pay a small extra fee.
  • They take care of all paperwork, customs, etc…
  • If you send more than 6 of the same item, you can get into trouble with customs (over 6 of the same item is not “personal use” anymore and they’ll want you to pay import taxes or fine you if you don’t). The shop is very careful about this and will warn you. You can easily send separate shipments though, don’t think that would be a problem.

This is the address:

Rinconcito Musical
Street: 342 Main Street
Hackensack, NJ, 07601-5803
Phone: (201) 487-1018

It’s a music shop (they sell CD’s and stuff), just go inside and ask about shipping.

This is the cheapest way to send stuff to Colombia that I’ve found, cheaper even than renting part of a shipping container which takes 3 months to get there. I’ve already sent a few boxes and the service works great. Highly recommended.

This is a bruja company and they really should not worry if it is 6 items or 10,000 and btw it is more than 3 of the same item not 6 if you are shipping legal.

Just FYI this is 2k pesos a pound? that is very very very cheap. A third what the other black market companies charge. Have you shipepd a lot with this company? Have you lost things? If it is a good company meaning no theft then wow a great deal!

I ship with Vencell Coordinadora Cargo out of Jackson Heights, Queens. They charge me the same $1.1 per pound and an additional $19 for insurance, taxes and puerta a puerta delivery. They quote 8 days from receipt to delivery.

I have shipped with them several times and only once was a package delayed and that was for 2 days. Never was anything opened. Needless to say, nothing was ever stolen. I often look at them as an alternative to FedEx. FedEx wants $90.62 to send a 3-page document to Santa Marta and they quote delivery at 3 days, if there are no customs delays. I shipped the documents in a box with some other things that weighed 45 pounds and was charged $68.50 by Vencell with 8 days for delivery.

Im sure they must do all of Colombia as well. Cali? Good company lead to file away as well.

That's a good deal, definitely... but you can get it at some places off of Roosevelt and la 37 in Queens, or close to it.

You know there are people who make custom furniture here, I'm getting all my shit custom built....

Vincell also has a Miami office. Their number is (305) 406-0020. I used to ship through them until they told me about the NY location.
