genus: tricerus pachanoi; also listed as echinopsis pachanoi. don't know why it's doubly described. a specius of cacti that includes lophophora williamsi (peyote).

the toxcicity of the plant places it in a class of plants known as entropics i.e. psychoactive.

there's a site: sanpedrocactus.org , devoted to the studies surrounding the plant and it's uses both decorative and therapeutic. however, you better brush up on your latin, as all comments are in latin. pity.

i have no personal familiarity with the san pedro cactus, but if it's in any way similar to the effects of peyote, i can speak at length regarding those effects. one point i might make to those interested in the ingestion of this cactus--given of course, it's similar to peyote--peyote tastes like shit smells.......baaaaaaad. the reader has been warned. we overcame this problem of foulness by drying and putting in a blender and grinding the 'buttons' to a fine powder and then putting the powder in double OO capsules. you can get roughly one dried button (they're about the size of your thumbnail) in one OO cap. ten of these will send you on the journey of your life. i did one experiment, taking ten capsules a day for 38 days. the effects of this experiment/experience would be difficult to describe. one might say that the entire time is spent in your hyper subtle double, utilizing the range of subtle senses...sight, smell, tactile, etc. the experience eliminates ANY doubt as to the reality of these states/senses/realities, as it brings with it it's own credentials of reality. there will be no doubt about ones identity following such an experiment. i would further point out, that these divine plants are not 'party favors' and should be used with the most serious reverence and if possible, alone.

with no jest, ww, a truly remarkable, eye opening experience. an awakening, if you will. a sense of life like shamans experience.....an intrance into the nature of things. seeing with out eyes, smelling without the nose understanding the unity of things. and their posture in the scheme of things.

I took San Pedro once-it was fine but I never took a lot of it.

Would like to try it again sometime.
