PBH MEET UP IN MEDELLIN, 13th of NOVEMBER

Like I wrote I plan to organize a PBH meet up in Medellin... The 13th of November would be the date... is a Friday night so I think a lot of people can join us... The idea is to meet at 8pm and have some beers and then go out to party.....

Where we should meet? The usual gringo spot at Parque Lleras?

Till now El Sapo and me is confirmed. I really would appreciate if also Makopp would come.. He lives in El Poblado so it would be really near for him....

I also would appreciate if Desi, Kat 1 and Peter would come... I think MODS should have more contacts to users of this board....

I certainly don't wish to be argumentative here, but I'm still wondering about these meet-ups...

Are you THAT bored and that desperate in Colombia that you wish to meet other ex-pats? Doesn't Colombia provide enough?

And if you are're interested in meeting fellow PBH members, what's preventing you from contacting them privately to organise a private meeting among you? What's the big deal about organising a meeting with people whose only common point appear to be that you're all bored with your own life and are prepared to meet utter stangers with whom, unless proven otherwise, you have nothing in common - apart from being bored? I'm not judging, I'm just curious...

Better to have tried and failed than having regrets all your life about what you MIGHT have missed

Darloup,

Most of the guys are North American, or at least English speaking, so they like to hang out and make it old home week. Cure a little home-sickness and meet someone from your neck of the woods. Meet other people who share the same mindset who grew up in similar circumstances with a common language.

Plus, they all love Colombia for whatever reason and like to compare notes, possibly show off girlfriends, and just get together and have a good time.

I am a dual citizen and some of my best friends in life in Colombia are from other countries.

Darloup, you are truly an insulting person. I have known guys here on PBH for years but only met them recently face to face. We had a little meet-up in CTG and then one in Medellin, and it was like meeting old long lost friends. The experience was really cool, we had a blast. How dare you .......... nevermind. Post another picture of a Fing trash can - everybody here thought that was a really neat photo. Sorry I forgot to take a picture of the biggest horse crap in Medallo on my last trip. Just look in the mirror, it probably is a close resemblance to what you see.

Without trying to forment a contracted argument, I would like to say that I communicate with several PBH'ers via PM. I appreciate the opportunity to meet persons whose words I have read but have never heard their voices nor saw their faces. Persons tend to be different face to face than words on the internet.

I was in Bogota a couple of weekends ago and I believe that Darloup was there at the same time. I enjoyed my stay in Bogota but I would have liked to have had the opportunity to meet him in person. The real him, not the person who writes on this forum.

When I can, I meet other PBH'ers. I'm sure that I won't like all of them, but having a chance to meet them completes the mental picture of who they are on the other side of the computer.

I love meeting other travellers too and I am one of those people that suffers from bouts of homesickness when I travel. Two PBH members saved me on my last trip. Maybe I'd feel different and want to go to a meet up if I were abroad and homesick again though and I'm sure it's a great excuse for a party too. Have fun guys!

I agree TFL, for example I am Colombia ex-pat in the UK and I would not mind sometimes meeting with other Colombians to share lots of stuff, not that I am bored but sometimes I like to be with people from my own country, share the same sense of humour, experiences etc.Saying that I still don't like Meet ups but like baby girl There are a few people on here I wouldn't mind meeting in real life.

I am all for PBH members to get to know each other, it is great you are making new friend and the internet is a new way of socialing. I am all for it :)

Darloup, its just might offer an opportunity in Colombia to meet other expats in the same situation as themselves. To meet people with the same kind of social upbringings and likes in life. Who knows? Maybe even find a new friend you can count on when things are dark or lonely. Then again maybe not and you want to be secluded and you like that, too each his own. Just dont try to trivialize, belittle or denigrate people who choose to go that route.

Darloup,

Do you really think it was boredom that got me and my wife to the last meetup? And do you think meeting Huskie, Robert, Papi, Gringoloid, Mes, and their ladies ( Huskie had a lady friend ) was not something worth experiencing. You probably have not met any of them as you would not make the statement you did if you had. Each of them warranted friendship and respect, but how the phuck would you know that? They had the balls to show up ( not including Huskie ) and I am glad they did. It does not take any balls to spout off on this site but it does take balls to go and be real with members who have spouted off.

Boredom had nothing to do with it. If you knew us you would know we did it by choice and not out of need.

Say Kat I am in the UK at the moment too, why don't you come down to London, we can get arepas and empanadas from Elephant and castle we can roll them around the bathroom and not wash our hands properly before eating them for that bacteria flavour. We can put small padlocks on all the kitchen cupboards, chain the chairs to the table, and put a screw threw anyting that moves. I can get the accordion out, and after deafening you, we can charge each other 250 pesos por minutos to call our sisters on each others mobiles.

Voila, we have made our own Aguila. Kat and I are going to share it after she is done asking my neighbour for una monedita. Once we are hammered on our home made aguardiente, we are going to hijack a sunshine variety coach, smash all the windows out and paint it to look like our own chiva.
