Interview to a Colombian kidnapped in Afghanistan

http://www.elespectador.com/elespectador/Secciones/Detalles.aspx?idNoticia=1023&idSeccion=23

There is another way for Colombians to go to Afghanistan and Iraq without being a war whore: Serving in a humanitarian mission. The main advantage, apparently, is that you don't get killed if kidnapped, and eventually you can make it back to your home country. Finally, there is one advantage for those of us carrying Colombian passports ;)

Interestingly, the closest encounter with death for Mr. Rojas wasn't in the Wardak province of Afghanistan, but in some street in Bogotá.

Good news, I'd wish that more followed his example Doing positive community work intended to improve the quality of life and directly or indirectly promoting a certain amount of employment opportunities is certainly much better than doing private contractor/mercenary duty.

Still, that last bit is debatable.

His kidnappers could have literally decided to do anything to him during the certain period of time that he spent in captivity, even if their manners were more civilized than those of the guys who once held him at gunpoint in Bogotá during a robbery.
