How to get to Punta Gallinas or Macuira/Nazareth from Riohacha other than organized tours..?

Hello all,

We are planning a trip to Guajira the beginning of May and are wondering how to get
to Punta Gallinas from Riohacha without an organized tour.

Any buses / private cars / taxis etc?

How about 4x4 rentals in Riohacha?
I know the roads are bad and many novices get lost....how about using GPS...?

Same questions for Macuira/ Nazareth

Any advice / contacts/pricing highly appreciated

do you speak spanish? travelling in la guajira is a great experience, you will be able to find all the information you need there, talking to locals. the transportation is sparse but does exist. generally renting spaces in 4WD, jeeps etc

Si Señor, I do speak Spanish plus my wife, who is coming on the trip with me is Colombian, so no language issues. The problem is that we only have limited time (about a week) so I'd like to find out as much info and prices before we depart....thanks for your help.
The organized tours are quite expensive for only 2 people ...unless others want to join in , so looking into cheaper diy alternatives.
Any specifics regarding Macuira or Punta Gallinas.?. I know I can get to Cabo de la Vela / RioHacha easily but from there on I'm still looking for answers....
If anyone wants to go to Alta Guajira from May 4-May 9 let me know as well, maybe we can split the cost of a 4x4 excursion...
