Going to Bogota this week...

I'm heading to Bogota this weekend from NYC.

I want to really experience bogota, what are some good night time activities?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Man this site is really worthless anymore. Why not welcome a new member and be polite? I guess you guys would rather go back to your posts of prepago's, booz, flaming, pro-leftists BS...great times!

Md321: Bogota is a great and fun place. You'll have a good time, look up the search function for specifics of places to go, and just use your head. Its a very large city with tons of fun things to do.

Enjoy

I prefer to stay in the North part of the city. I usually get an apartment or hotel near Parque Virrey. From that area, it is only a 10 minute walk one direction to Parque de la 93 which has many places to have coffee, have drinks, or eat. There are no night clubs or discos here... only hang out bars and lounges. If you walk 10 minutes the other direction from Parque Virrey, you will find Zona Rosa and Zona T, which has dozens discos and night clubs. Be sure to get to a club or disco before 11pm, or you will be waiting forever in line. All the clubs and discos get packed around this time. This area has the some American restaurants such as Hard Rock Cafe and Hooters, with a few Colombian resturants as well. I wish I could remember the name of the place I had a Steak Ranchero. It was the best!! I like the Parque Virrey area of Bogota, because it is very safe. You will see people walk alone on the main streets even late at night. And the main streets are well lit. The only bad thing is this area is far from the airport(30 minutes), far from La Candelaria(40 minutes), and very far from Andres Carne de Res(50 minutes).

I also agree with Rocco. There are more smart ass off topic answers to everyone's posts and questions, than there are real and helpful responses. This website has the potential to be really good, if the moderators would do more.

The north of Bogota is bullshit... Just rich and fancy idiots who think they are something better... Gomelos de mierda.... Hard Rock Cafe is the worst place in BOgota (in Atlantis shopping mall) and hooters is also bullshit.... you just mentioned all the boring gringo hang outs.... Go to the south to Primera de Mayo.... there is a nice rumba...

Grimace, I am a newbie as well. I have twice been to Bogota, most recently over US labor day. My girlfriend is living in Faca but when I visit we stay in Bogota. I used the Bogotainsider.com to rent an apartment. It was on the north side of town within walking distance for Zona Rosa and T zone. Great shopping, bars and restaurants etc. etc.

If you contact them, I worked with Stephanie and I think Carolina is the other gal, Stephanie speaks pretty good english as she went to school in US. They followed thru on all promises and even let me change my arrival with the apartment when I missed my flight out of Chicago. Anyway, have fun.
