Festival de Carros de Rodillos (Medellin)

This annual event sponsored by INDER is a fookin blast! from about 9am to 2pm. Just use whatever from an old wood skid to a bed to a toilet bowl to a paper mache pig, get some ball bearing metal wheels on it, tack on some old tire treads to step on to use as brakes. grab a bunch of friends, dress them up in grandmas old wigs and see how fast you can fly down calle AYACUCHO en el centro (Barrio Buenos Aires). Some even filled up fire extinguishers with different colored powder to use as extra propulsion as well for visual effect. Some of the wipeouts were spectacular upending the car or smashing it into those metal portable barriers with sponsors like postobon, aguardiente antioqueño, etc. and sending the riders flying! There were a few ambulances around and a few guys were taken off on stretchers, some guys with shiners, lots of nice scrapes, dingleberries, etc. in just a total disregard for well being. The crowd crowded the street and then runs frantically to the side as the cars whizz down. Some cars would zig-zag on purpose making the crowd scramble like the running of the bulls in Pampalona. Nice amount of women around, $1600 beers. Ill get some pics in the picture section soon. Even though it was the 21st annual event, I saw verrrry few gringos. heh heh.
