My TEMPORAL TC visa expired on 1 Oct and due to paperwork problem we couldn't renew. My wife will have to go to Bogota to get her paperwork worked out. I am staying with her family in Venezula but would like to fly back to the U.S. while we wait. Will Das at the border give me a "stamped" tourist visa? I have been out of Colombia for a month. I want to fly out of Cucuta.

Gator says on Oct 25, 2009, 19:31: What is a "Stamped Tourist Visa?" You can't fly out of Cúcuta to the USA, not designated as an international departure air port. You might try entering as a tourist with your US Passport, then fly to Bogotá, Barranquilla, or Cartagena and try to purchase or just fly direct to the USA from Venezuela? autohog says on Oct 25, 2009, 19:46: I have the " paste in visa " now that is expired. The stamped visa is that tourist visa you get for what 90 days. I know that I need to fly from Cucuta to Bogota and then the U.S. I have heard nothing but bad things about flying out of Venezula.

Well the imbecile that stamped my passport upon entrance to Venezuela stamped it in the "salida" column. Upon exiting they want to see my "entrada" stamp. Gator says on Oct 25, 2009, 19:55: An expired visa is no longer valid. You MIGHT be able to enter on the US Passport as a tourist but I believe you would have problems with DAS when they see the expired visa. "Bene, cum Latine nescias, nolo manus meas in te maculare" . 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

yoyoma says on Oct 25, 2009, 20:13: Why not? You left legally right? Unless your stay during 2009 somehow affects the 6 months per year for tourist visa rule.

Alma del Norte (☼Travelguide writer) says on Oct 25, 2009, 20:22: Agree with yoyoma. Provided you left Colombia and entered Venezuela legally, of course you can come back on a tourist stamp, I have done exactly the same thing. You will probably get 60 days, but ask - I've been surprisingly successful at getting 3 months at land borders. La vida es una rutina 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

autohog says on Oct 25, 2009, 20:26: Yes I left legally and am in Venezula on a 90 day visa. Maybe I will try or go and ask at border. If they say no I can just turn around and go back to Venezula.

mikeinpuerto says on Oct 26, 2009, 06:03: if you left colomba legally and you have not used up 180 days in this calender year you can come back as a tourist ..No problem .....I am thinking you have used up the 180 days ..that is for the tourist .....if your previous visa ran out and you left before the time expired no problem to re enter on tourist ... Smile and everyone will wonder what they are missing. 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

autohog says on Oct 27, 2009, 06:10: I don't know if the visa I have is a tourist visa................. it is a TEMPORAL TC visa for married to a Colombian. If it isn't counted as a tourist visa, then I have not used any days in 09 under a tourist visa. Would it count as a tourist visa?
