Expecting visitors? Save them some money on accommodation & they can spend more on you!

So you've got the folks or overseas friends coming over to see you soon. Why have them spend their hard earned cash on over priced hotel rooms, when they could be treating you to trips to La Calera or Los Volcanes thermal swimming pools in Machete!

Have a look at our range of executive style furnished apartments, they're less than you might expect.....www.aptscolombia.com.

That would be nice it's very rare ,I save people lots of money think they're friends let them stay free they invite other people without asking you & don't bring f**k all then most of the time steal or damage things unfortunatly, you learn the hard way .
Soon as you talk of money they disappear ,but anyway good luck.

Yes,if you like staying in a hostal with backpackers.. My style is more mid-range,& that isn't easy to find in Bogota. Better prices in Miami!

The only hostel I ever stayed in was the Platypus, and it was cheap, but I had a good time. Bring shower shoes.

What a pity! I didn't suppose to write the rates, as people can think it's too commercial.
Anyway our rates are like below:

Dorm beds: COP$15,000 per person
Single room(w/o bath): COP$30,000 for 1 person (plus $5,000 w/ bath)
Twin/Double room(w/o bath): COP$40,000 for 2 persons (plus $5,000 w/ bath)

We don't have rooms with bath at the time of writing, but soon or later.

Private Spanish Class
15 hours(3 hrs a day)/1 week: COP$200,000
30 hours(3 hrs a day)/2 weeks: COP$350,000
45 hours(3 hrs a day)/3 weeks: COP$475,000
60 hours(3 hrs a day)/4 weeks: COP$575,000
(Outside students from the hostel will be charged COP$50,000 more for class.)

The website will be totally changed soon. Thank you guys for interests.
Feel free to contact me if you have any question, or need some advise to travel Colombia.

I was raised to take care of guests, whether from overseas or home, from overseas, not leach off of them like a parasite. It's a matter of personal pride.

And Of course, vice-versa.All my true friends and family would offer to pay or take me out for dinner, or vice-versa if I am staying with them. It just happens naturally when you were raised that way, and you never have to remind anyone.

I edited this before issueing to make it more palatable to the MODS

I have paisa friends who are pretty much insistent that I stay at their home..They don't have much but are ALWAYS willing to share.. But I always rent something because I like my privacy... I have friends in Bogota who are educated & come from families with money.. will always offer to help find a hotel.. the most expensive one.. But when they come to San Antonio always want to stay at my house... Cultural differences? I think not...

P'sito I never stay with friends anymore either as I also value my privacy above all. I don't want people watching when I leave & arrive, where I'm going and with who ect ect. Last time I stayed with friends they had my days planned which didn't meet with my objectives and or interests.

American International Hostel(now HI due a name change) Near central Park-$29 Nightly This is where I stay when I'm in New York City! I have used this Hostel 3 Times in the recent past though their rates are now up to $29 Nightly, still a Great price considering the location. When I first started using this Hostel in 1990, its prices then were $16 nightly. Its safe clean and secure! I have a Senior membership, BTW, you can buy a membership at this Hostel for under $32 and its Valid Worldwide.

I just spent a week at a love hotel. 25000 a night (30000 Fri & Sat) for me and my wife. Very clean and fantastic service right at a transmelenio station. Los Faroles Azules - Calle 62 no 14-45. Don't expect to mingle with guests though.

No problem is so formidable that you can't walk away from it.

what's nice about the Hostels is(at least the good ones) is they have Kitchen facilities so you can buy your food at a Market, store it in the Hostel's fridges and cook on the stoves. This is quite a savings over week or two not to mention you control the cleanliness issue not found in small Col eateries. Like no soap, hotwater or clean hand towels in the restrooms. And you know your food is stored at the proper temperature overnight. Not so in many Col Restaurants
