When we used to live in Colombia we'd buy all our clothes for the year in one week while in the US. Then I was done with shopping for a whole year!

Except the cheapy stuff I'd find around.

Clothes for kids and shitty chinese made toys are so fricken expensive in Colombia, I would bring things from old navy, marshall's and ross.

Damn! That IS expensive. It's been a while since I've bought baby clothes in Colombia, but I used to just go down to the ONLY in Chapinero and buy a ton of nice stuff for very cheap. You could buy a lot of baby clothes for 50.000 COP. If you need baby clothes in Colombia, take your butt down to ONLY! You can get some things there for just a few hundred pesos.

That store always cracked me up with the way they lower your items from the upper floors with little baskets on pulleys. Very strange.

Ja Ja. Pues si. No pensaba que alguien en este sitio supiera lo que es un ONLY. Es el mejor lugar para comprar ropa barata pero buena para niños y bebes.

Holy crap, that is expensive! LOL. I was going to give it the benefit of the doubt but daaaymn, $38k pesos for a dress a baby is going to wear 3 months MAX??? No way. My niece is only 4 years-old so I'm very familiar with baby clothes and prices and trust me, you can get a lot more for $38k pesos here in the US. Shoot, I'd go to El Hueco to get some nice stuff a baby is only going to wear for a couple of months.

As someone who will soon have the joy of looking at baby clothes for the first time I can concur that the prices of all baby clothes in Colombia is unreasonably expensive. There is no justification for charging sky highs prices for clothes that use less material than adult clothes, are not "branded" (they arrive on the same boat from China with the adult clothes) and only last a few weeks or months. In fact I think there is a market for a shop selling good quality secondhand baby clothes. I suspect though that it's the shame factor of some women from certain stratas who wouldn't be seen dead having their baby in secondhand gear is what keeps the prices up!

When my niece was still a baby we used to go to baby consignment stores where they sell used clothing for a lot less. A mean, these are clothes that were only worn once or twice by a baby and many still had tags on them. So needless to say consignment stores are a huge hit here in the US.

They also have a nationwide event called Moms of Multiples (http://www.momsofmultiples.org/resale.html) where a large group of mothers who've had twins, triplets, etc, have so much baby clothing, toys, shoes, carriages, cribs, you name it, that they have to have these events to sell them for dirt cheap. I used to buy onesies (baby bodysuits) with tags on them for $1 each. The one here in Colorado is held at a huge convention center and is always packed when they have it.

Noelito. Go down to any Almacen ONLY and you will find plenty of good, new baby clothes and accessories for very reasonable prices. There is no need to pay outrageous prices at the malls.

There are several locations all over Bogota.

http://www.almacenesonly.com/

They have a catalog with a limited selection of their merchandise online so you can see some examples of the prices.

The best way to avoid expensive baby clothes is to have a vasectomy.
